Owned by the Religious Congregation of the Great St. Bernard, the Auberge de l’Hospice is not a business like any other. Built just over a century ago, it complements the age-old hospitality of the Canons by offering comfortable accommodation (private rooms with bathroom) in a non-religious setting. All its profits go to the Hospice du Grand-Saint-Bernard, an organisation recognised as being of public utility. Staying at the Auberge means supporting the Hospice and enabling it to continue its mission of welcoming all.
The Auberge has about fifteen employees of all nationalities. From the laundry to the kitchens, from the shop to the reception, they all embody the spirit of welcome of the Pass. In addition to its salaried staff, each summer the staff includes a small team of volunteers who come to spend a “different” month in the mountains. The Auberge de l’Hospice also collaborates with workshops for people with disabilities.
